I will always maintain my third grade class blog, Mrs. Yollis' Classroom Blog.

It is the centerpiece of our classroom and documents all the learning throughout the year.

As I became more confident as a blogger, I created and/or joined a number of collaborative blogs.

1. Collaboration Corner

This blog brought my third class together with their second grade blogging buddies in Kathleen Morris' (@kathleen_morris) class in Victoria, Australia. The students participated in two projects: The What's For Lunch? project and About Our School project.

2. The Ugandan Global Project

Here is a video my class made to introduce the six elementary schools who participated in the Ugandan Global Project. Watch to video to learn how six classes from four continents came together for the benefit of a Ugandan school/orphanage.

Here is a culminating video made by Kathleen Morris. The month-long collaborative project raised nearly $20,000!

3. The Reading Round-Up!

This is a literacy blog I run with Jonah Salsich (@jmsalsich) a third grade teacher in Connecticut. We have Skype book clubs, create VoiceThread literacy projects, and quality commenters have the opportunity to become deputy sheriffs of the Reading Round-Up! In addition, Sheriff Salsich and Sheriff Yollis make green screen videos to teach buckaroos about reading!

Here is our collaborative Non-Fiction Video!

4. Our World, Our Stories

The students are all from elementary school classes and are from three different continents and six different countries. Each week the students will share about their lives and interests.

5. The Tale Trail

Six classes - Mrs. Yollis' Classroom Blog USA; Open the Door to B4, New Zealand; Mr. Salsich's Grade 3s, USA; Mrs. Watson's Grade 2/3s, Canada; Mr. Avery's Grade 6s, USA; and 4KM and 4KJ, Australia; worked together to write a story. Together the classes chose a setting and then one class started the story, the next class continued it. The pattern continued until the last class wrote the ending. The final story was recorded and made into an audio book. A link to the audio book.

6. Yollis' 365 Project

This digital documentation project started two years ago as a way to integrate digital photography and writing for my elementary students. It has grown into a group project that has photo contributions from teachers and/or classes in: Australia, England, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Washington, and Iowa.

7. A-Z of Technology Tips
This Google presentation was a collaborative project with Kathleen Morris and Kelly Jordan in Victoria, Australia. Their class blog is 4KM and 4KJ.

8. Our World, Our Numbers

Students from all classes will connect and collaborate by sharing their mathematical lives. This will happen through the blog and involve a variety of media. A different class will “lead” a mathematical topic every four days or so, publishing posts and replying to comments. The other classes will read the posts, possibly publish their own posts, and leave blog comments.
